Google’s Changes: What Do They Mean?

Have you noticed that Google has removed the ads from the right hand side of the page? Most of you will have by now, but if you haven’t, go check it out. See? Looks weird, right?

This change took place on Friday February 19th, and here’s what’s actually happened. Four text ads appear at the top of the organic search list and three appear at the bottom of the page. The top ad spaces will be allocated to what Google classes as ‘highly commercial queries’; these are your ‘no win no fee’ and ‘house to rent in’ queries for example which are the lucrative areas of commerce and usually a definite purchase.

It’s not known yet whether advertisers and business will pay the same amount of money for these PPC ads now they are placed elsewhere on Google’s search results pages as data hasn’t been collected on the bearing these changes will have. The same goes for the impact it will have on both paid search and SEO. Ethical SEO companies will have to adapt to what they have to work with and modify their approach in line with policy changes if necessary. Any new regulations Google throws at the SEO world need to be handled correctly. Being a lead generation SEO company isn’t always easy, but ethical SEO companies are never tempted by bad practice.
